Sponsorship FAQ

What does my monthly sponsorship include?

Hope Now’s Orphan Sponsorship Program focuses on providing comprehensive, individualized care for each child, from nutrition, to health/hygiene, to counseling while exposing them to the Gospel. Your monthly sponsorship provides funds for Christian Education at the orphanage, hygiene support, warm clothes, urgent medical care, orphanage repairs, and more. We also view Child Sponsorships as a way for you to develop lasting relationships with your child. As a sponsor, we encourage you to become the child’s prayer partner, pen pal, and mentor.

How do I pick a child to sponsor?

In order to protect the privacy of the children, we do not post public profiles of the children who are in need of sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, we would love to help pair you with a child! Some sponsors chose children who share their birth month, who are the same age as their children, or for various other reasons. Email Cyndee Knight at cyndee@hopenowusa.org in order to be paired with a child in need of a sponsor.

How long is my commitment to sponsoring a child?

We see sponsorships as a chance to build long-term relationships with children. However, we understand that life circumstances change. When you begin sponsoring a child, we ask that you commit to being their sponsor for one year.

Can I write letters to my child?

Yes! Children love receiving letters and photos from their sponsors. Please send letters to our Atlanta office or email them to info@hopenowusa.org. Our Ukrainian team will translate the letters and deliver them to the children.

Can I send presents to my child?

We encourage our sponsors to send a present for their child’s birthday each year. It is a wonderful idea to include practical items in your birthday gift (socks, underwear, toothpaste, etc.) as well as a small, age-appropriate toy. Please keep in mind that everything in your package must fit in a gallon Ziploc bag. If you have questions about what to include in your gift, feel free to email us at info@hopenowusa.org.You can send presents to our Atlanta office along with a gallon-sized Ziploc bag.

Will my child ever write to me?

Just as sponsored children love receiving letters, they also love writing back! Your child will write to you at least twice a year, depending on how often you write to them.

Can I visit my child?

Yes, we offer multiple opportunities for sponsors to visit their sponsored children. Each year we host an English Language Week (April), two summer camps (June and July) and a Fall Sponsor Trip (early September). What happens when my child graduates from the orphanage?

In Ukraine, children are forced to leave the orphanage around age 15-16. These teenagers have never lived independently, and they often struggle to make basic life decisions on their own. We have a Graduate Program which provides opportunities for education, housing, and Christian community for orphan graduates. Sponsors have a wonderful opportunity to develop deeper relationships with their child after they graduate through Graduate Sponsorships.
